I have previously discussed the many benefits of sun exposure, but that we should avoid sunburn.
If you look at research from the Environmental Working Group, you find that many of the ingredients in sunscreen are problematic:
- They circulate in the blood and are stored in our fat tissue
- Toxic to the nervous systems
- Endocrine disruptors: Preventing our own hormones from working properly
Sunscreen also prevents your skin from making Melanin, which gives you the “tan” and prevents you from getting sunburned.
The best way to protect yourself from sunburn is by building your sun callus through gradually increasing sun exposure.
If you are going on vacation and don’t have days to build your callus. Try using Tallow based sunscreen.
